Using your Pyro System Explained:
Consult your local laws and fire dept. before using any pyrotechnics at a public event.
Step One: Plug the cable going to your effect into your pyro controller. For this example we are using our 2/4 way controller. There are 4 channels to choose from with this controller, and 2 zones (zone 'A' is channel 1 and 2 on top, and zone 'B' is channel 1 and 2 below). You might be using an 8 Way controller, in which case you will have 8 channels on the rear of the unit, instead of 4.
Step Two: Plug the other end of your cable into your pod. Note: You may employ a "Series box" at this location to detonate up to 4 pods from the same channel, making a total of 16 pods available with this controller.
If you are using a 2 wire effect, such as a gerb, you will plug into a "Jumper Lead" instead of the pod pictured above. The jumper lead will then attach to your 2 wire effect. You may use doorbell wire to string more than one effect together if you want them all on one channel. Here is a jumper lead:
Step Three: Plug your cartridge into your pod. There are a wide variety of cartridges to choose from (flash, flame, stars etc...)
Step Four: Make sure the cartridge is fitted snugly into your pod. It should look like this.
Step Five: Observing all safety rules, and making sure that noone is standing near the pod, plug in your controller and turn the Key to the 'On' position. The red light will light up.
Step Six: Choose the "zone" that will fire. For the 2/4 way controller, this will dictate whether it will fire channels 1 and 2 in the 'A' section (the top two places to where the cables are plugged in) or the 'B' section (the bottom two places).
Step Seven: Choose whether you want channel '1' to fire, or channel '2' or both. The "Test" light will come on, indicating that the effect is plugged in and connected properly, and that the cartridge is seated in the pod correctly.
Step Eight: Fire! Press the red button to fire the choosen effect.
Congratulations! You're a pyrotechnician!
