Thank you for purchasing our professional stage Parcan (found at: http://www.starlight.com/epar.html).
Here are some instructions to help you along the way:

Make sure the Parcan is unplugged before changing the lamp. This will prevent accidental electrocution. We are using a Par56 in these instructions, as it is our most popular light. These instructions will be the same for a Par64 or Par46 light, but not for a Par38.
To open the base of the parcan, pull the spring knob on the side as shown. This will release the base and you can lift it out.

Pull out the retaining ring. Pinch the metal piece together and lift out. Parcans from Star Light and Magic feature a retaining ring to securely hold your bulb in place, and a built in safety screen, in case the bulb ever cracks.

Place the bulb into the Parcan with the plug side up as shown. Star Light and Magic parcans feature a connecting wire that holds the base to the rest of the parcan. Do not snip this wire as it keeps your parcan together and provides a continuous ground in case of an electrical short.

Place the retaining ring back into the unit with the prongs on each side of the spring knob as shown. This will prevent the bulb from moving around inside the fixture.
Place the ceramic holder onto the plug. Make sure it is firmly seated.

Place the base back onto the unit. This can be a bit tricky the first time. Make sure the extended post on the base slides into the hole that is opposite the spring knob, then pull the spring knob and seat the base into place. If it sits cockeyed, then you know you have not done it correctly.
Lastly, you may put a color gel into the gel frame and slide it into place. One of the 4 anchors holding it into place will lift on a springed hinge, as shown, so that you may slide the gel frame into place.
We hope you have found these instructions helpful.
If there is anything we have left out, please let us know!
Happy Lighting!
