FLASH POT
Read these directions very carefully. This product uses flammable material and is for professional use only. Star Light and Magic is not responsible for any injury or liability that is the result of the users failure to follow directions.
DIRECTIONS:
When you first take the Flash Pot out of the box, you will note two thin wires coming out of the side of the pit, and running to a red and black pair of terminals. This is the Surefire igniter. Look into the pit, and note the igniter tip sticking into the center. When you replace the igniter (a new one is needed for each shot), you will want to install it so that it’s positioned in the same manner.
Remove the igniter by pulling it out of the pit and pressing on the red and black levers to release the igniter wires. Now place a teaspoonful of Flash Powder into the pit. Use White, Red or Green Flash Powders, Colored Smoke Powder, Photo Flash Powder, or Smokeless Powder. Now plug the Flash Pot into a footswitch or switchbox, and plug the switch/box into 120V house current (a standard wall outlet). By switching the footswitch or switchbox on and off, you’ll see the red indicator on the Flash Pot light and go out. When the red light is lit, ignition power is being supplied to the red and black terminals. If a Surefire Igniter were in place, the Pot would go off as soon as the red indicator lit. Set your switch so that the red indicator is not lit. Now reconnect the igniter leads to the red and black terminals, and push the igniter tip through the hole in the side of the pit so that it sticks into the center. Do not allow the igniter tip to touch any metal on the inside of the pit. It is preferable, though not essential, for the igniter tip to touch the Powder. The Pot is now ready to fire. Be sure that there are no flammable objects or people within 10 feet. Throw the switch and instantly create a flash of fire, or colored smoke, or any effect varying with the type of Powder used.
CAUTION:
Do not reload until the Pot has cooled.Always conduct a preliminary test in a safe location, especially when using a new brand or type of Powder.Always keep your face away from the Pot. Wear safety glasses.Never smoke while loading.Do not load the Pot directly from the bottle. Pour the Powder from the bottle into a plastic teaspoon, and then empty the spoon into the Pot.Overloading the Pot with Powder may result in an exploding Pot.Never fire the Pot near curtains or on carpet.Observe the correct safety distance for your particular effect (generally 15 ft.).When installing the igniter, be sure that the igniter tip is not touching any metal part of the Flash Pot.Never replace the igniter or touch the red and black terminals when the red indicator is lit.
Keep a water spray bottle and two fire extinguishers within reach at all times.
TIPS:
Igniters are one-time use products and must be replaced for each shot.Position the igniter tip so that it’s touching the Powder. To avoid blowing circuit breakers and fuses, be sure the lines fuse or breaker is no less than 20 amps. For a different effect, use Flash Paper (strips or sheets) instead of Powder.
Certain types of Powder, such as Colored Smoke Powder, require extra help in lighting. Try wrapping the Powder in Flash
Powder in Flash Paper or inserting the squib tipdirectly into the center of the Powder.
For a different effect, try mixing in a little Electric Sparkle Additive.
